I am going to try something new and journal about my process and artistic journey here. I've never done this part before, so here goes...
I've been spending the last few days photographing some of the crazy weather conditions that are happening here in my town, and am preparing to sketch some designs for a few (maybe 3) new paintings based on my observations. I like to build up a nice file of reference photos first, then sketch or collage (or both) various ideas while brainstorming possible compositions for upcoming paintings. I like to also build a word bank of inspirational words that pop into my head while photographing and sketching. These help me keep my focus while working on my designs. After I have a clear plan I find or stretch my canvases, and set to work on my next group of paintings.
So far words that have inspired me for this round: growth, resilience, hope and awakening.
